Centro and Finnish manufacturer Artek were co-sponsors of Monday night's lecture at Washington University's Sam Fox School of Visual Arts and Design by German artist Tobias Rehberger, winner of the Golden Lion award for Best Artist at the 53rd International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale 

A dinner in honor of the artist followed at the loft of Peter MacKeith, Associate Dean.  Guests included Centro's co-owners; Sabine Eckmann, William T. Kemper Museum Director and Chief Curator; Christof Jantzen, Principal Partner at Behnisch Architekten; John and Anabeth Weil; and Carmon Colangelo, artist and Dean of the Sam Fox School.

Drawing II students from Maryville University are sketching at Centro!

Art teacher Steve Teczar makes an annual pilgrimage with his students to find inspiration in our showroom.  Teczar's goal is to expose his students to modern design, introduce them to the city, and encourage students to draw outside of the studio.  Many of his drawing students are studying interior design and he believes it is important to expose them to the "design classics".

The St. Louis Artemide Showroom, located in Centro's modern lighting gallery, and Ward & Jacobs, newly appointed Artemide Sales Representatives, played host for two days to area architects and lighting designers.  Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon refreshments were served on TUE and WED, after which attendees we're shown the newly-installed 2009 Artemide introductions.  Ask a Centro staff member to point out the new designs on your next visit.  Complete catalogs and the new architectural binder are available to members of the trade.

On Thursday, February 19, Centro will host the fifth annual AIA St. Louis Movie Night.  This year's film, BIRD'S NEST, is a documentary by Christoph Schaub & Michael Schindhelm about the circumstances surrounding the design and construction of Beijing's Olympic Stadium by Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron.  Attendance is limited to members of the St. Louis Chapter of AIA and their guests.
